Activity log Pro
Pro · This feature is part of Snipfire Pro. Plans
The activity log answers "who changed this, and when?" for every snippet and setting.
What's recorded
- Snippets created, edited (which parts changed: code, conditions, location…, and a link to the version it replaced), switched on or off, deleted, restored, duplicated, moved and imported (from which plugin, or from the snippet library).
- Snippets Snipfire switched off automatically after an error, with the error and its line.
- Snippets saved switched off because of problems.
- Settings changes: team access, cookie consent and Global Privacy Control, Git sync settings, site files, the AI assistants setting, snippet performance settings, the AI assistant's settings, secrets added, replaced or deleted (by name, never the value), sites added to or removed from the agency hub, shortcodes rewritten, new safe mode or preview links.
- Git sync: each sync (how many snippets went each way, with the commit), and each snippet updated or deleted from Git.
- Exports as a plugin: the plugin's name and slug, and how many snippets.
- Pushes from the agency hub: on the hub, which sites got which snippet and how it went (and roll backs); on the client site, the save, marked as coming from the Agency hub.
- Network snippets switched off or back on for one site, and marked Required.
- Refused updates: an update of Snipfire that couldn't be verified (see Signed updates).
Each entry says who did it, when, and where it came from: Editor, REST API, WP-CLI, Classic screen, Agency hub or Automatic.
On a multisite network, the network snippets screen has an activity log of its own.
Open it
- Activity at the bottom of the editor's sidebar.
- For one snippet: ⋯ → Activity for this snippet.
Search activity (Search who, what, snippet…) finds entries by person, snippet title or detail. Kind of change narrows it down (created, edited, deleted…). Show older loads more.
Everyone with Snipfire access, including View only, can see the log. It's read-only: entries can't be edited or deleted from WordPress.
How long it's kept
Entries are kept for 12 months, in monthly files in wp-content/snipfire/activity/, protected from web access like your snippets. Older months are removed automatically.
Developers can change the retention with the snipfire_activity_months filter, or skip some kinds of entries with snipfire_log_activity. See PHP hooks.
From the command line
wp snipfire log # the latest 50 entries
wp snipfire log --snippet=12
wp snipfire log --user=jane --limit=100
wp snipfire log --action=auto_disabled # snippets switched off after errors
wp snipfire log --format=csv > activity.csv
Actions you can filter on: created, updated, enabled, disabled, auto_disabled, deleted, restored, imported, switched_over, moved, settings, access, git_pulled, git_sync, update_refused, export_plugin, hub_pushed, site_off, site_on.
