Every release is signed with the Snipfire release key, which is never stored on this website's server. Snipfire checks the signature itself before it installs an update, and refuses one that doesn't match, so even someone who took over this website couldn't push code to your site.

Install it
- In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin > Upload Plugin.
- Choose the snipfire-0.17.1.zip file you downloaded and click Install Now.
- Click Activate. The menu item is in the admin sidebar.
Coming from another snippet plugin? Snipfire notices it and offers to bring your snippets across, switched off, so nothing changes until you say so.
Updating
From version 0.16.0 on, new versions show up in WordPress under Dashboard > Updates, like any other plugin, and automatic updates work too. From 0.17.0 on, Snipfire also checks each update's signature before installing it, and refuses one that isn't signed with the Snipfire release key. On a version older than 0.16.0, download the zip once and upload it the same way: WordPress offers to replace the installed version. Your snippets aren't in the plugin folder, so they stay exactly as they are.
