• PHP Posts and editor Turn off block suggestions from WordPress.org Searching the block inserter no longer offers to install block plugins from WordPress.org. Keeps editors from adding plugins by accident.
• PHP Posts and editor Turn off Openverse images in the editor Removes the Openverse tab from the block editor’s media inserter, so editors only pick images from your own media library.
• PHP Posts and editor No patterns from WordPress.org The pattern inserter shows only your theme’s and your own patterns, not the ones WordPress downloads from the pattern directory. The editor also loads a little faster.
• PHP Media Turn off lazy loading of images Images load straight away instead of when they scroll into view. Some sliders and lightbox scripts need this.
• PHP Users Close new registrations Nobody can register a new account from wp-login.php, whatever the setting says. Existing users aren’t affected.
• PHP SEO Turn off author archives Author pages (/author/name/) redirect to the home page. On single-author sites they only repeat the blog and reveal the user name.
• PHP Developer tools Turn off automatic plugin and theme updates WordPress no longer updates plugins and themes by itself, and the “Enable auto-updates” links go away. Useful when you test updates on staging first.

• PHP SEO Turn off date archives Date archives (/2024/05/) redirect to the home page. Most sites never link to them, but search engines still find and crawl them.
