Install Snipfire

Check the requirements first: WordPress 6.5 or newer and PHP 8.1 or newer.

Install the free plugin #

1. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New and search for Snipfire.
2. Click Install Now, then Activate.
3. You'll find Snipfire in the admin menu, with two pages: Snippets (the editor) and Tools & Safe Mode.

You can also download the zip from WordPress.org and upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.

Do this straight away: save your safe mode link #

Open Snipfire → Tools & Safe Mode and copy the link under Safe mode. Save it in your password manager or bookmarks. If a snippet ever locks you out of your site, that link gets you back in. More about safe mode.

Add Snipfire Pro #

Snipfire Pro is an add-on: keep the free plugin installed and active, and install Pro next to it.

1. After you buy (or start a free trial), download the Snipfire Pro zip from the link in your purchase email or from your account on snipfirewp.com.
2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip and click Install Now, then Activate.
3. Activate your licence (below).

Snipfire Pro needs Snipfire. If the free plugin isn't active, WordPress asks you to install it first.

Activate your licence #

After you activate Snipfire Pro, WordPress shows a notice: Snipfire Pro needs an active licence for its features. Click Activate your licence, paste the licence key from your purchase email, and confirm.

Until the licence is active, your snippets keep running normally, and any settings that need Pro stay safely off. Licence details.

Updates #

The free plugin updates from WordPress.org like any other plugin. Snipfire Pro updates from the same Plugins screen while your licence is active.
